Softball Roundup: Westchester rallies to advance to D-2 semis

Fresh off an opening round upset of Wilson, Westchester had two rally twice in order to knock off 15th seed Maywood 8-7 to advance to the LA City Division II semifinals.

Veranae Woods had three RBI’s and Sharnitra Woods scored and drove in a run for the Comets.

Westchester trailed 2-0 in the first and 5-4 after the third inning of play.

The 10th-seeded will travel to No. 6 Arleta on Tuesday.

Softball: Crossroads, Windward, and Pacifica Christian advance to Div 7 playoffs

Windward and Pacifica Christian both advanced to the Souther Section Division 7 softball playoffs, while Crossroads earned a wild card berth.

Boys Volleyball: Crossroads at No. 6 and Santa Monica in at No. 8 in new CIF-SS poll

Both Crossroads and Santa Monica finished the regular season ranked in the CIF-SS Division 3 poll it was announced today. The Roadrunners, winner of the Alpha League comes in at the six spot, while the Ocean League champions Vikings finsihed at No. 8.

Crossroads and Malibu win Southern Section Academic Awards

Crossroads School and Malibu High were among the schools that had teams honored by the CIF Southern Section for academic success it was announced by the section office.

The Santa Monica-based Crossroads boys’ volleyball team finished first with a 3.71 grade point average in the under 1,500 enrollment division. Its boys’ cross country team placed second to Pasadena Poly with a 3.83 GPA and the girls’ cross country team was second to Pilibos with a 3.86 GPA.

Malibu won the under 1,500 student category for softball with a 3.85 GPA ahead of Marymount who players had a 3.77 GPA.

The only westside public school on the list was Santa Monica’s boys’ volleyball team who placed third in the over 1,500 student category with a 3.66 GPA behind Pennisula’s 3.75 GPA.

Boys Volleyball: Santa Monica and Crossroads remain in new D3 poll

Two westside schools are ranked in the new CIF Southern Section Division III Boys’ Volleyball Poll. Santa Monica comes on at the fifth spot and Crossroads is sixth.

Girls Basketball Roundup: Palisades extends winning streak to five; still undefeated in league

Palisades extended their winning streak to five games with a 66-27 road victory over Hamilton in Western League action.

Bianca King led the Dolphins with 24 points and eight rebounds to setup a show down against two undefeated teams in the conference when they travel to Westchester on Monday.

Kylie Bethel had 16 points and freshman Hydeia Duronslet added 10 points along with six steals for Palisades (7-14, 3-0).
