Santa Monica College defensive lineman Marcus Manley has committed to Cal after taking an official visit to the campus last week, according to his head coach Gifford Lindheim.

Manley was planning on taking a trip to BYU this week before committing with the Bears. He is expect to sign in February and will transfer in the fall.

“Marcus is a stud. Hardworking, explosive and high energy” said Lindheim about Manley earlier this month. “He also has a knack for blocking PAT’s and field goals.”

The 6’2, 279 pound freshman from Fairfax High had 35 tackles, and a blocked field goal this year for the Corsairs.

Manley was named to the Region V All-California team by the California Community College Coaches Association and the JC Athletic Bureau earlier this week.
