Football: Former Culver City QB Lukas O’Connor commits to UMass
Former Culver City Quarterback Lukas O’Connor has committed to UMass, he announced on twitter today.
O’Connor threw for 3,341 yards and 32 touchdowns in his senior season, leading the Centaurs to the Western Division title game back in 2011. It was only the third time Culver City has played for a CIF title in the school’s fifty-two year history. He graduated in 2012.

JC Football: SMC’s Manley to take an official visit to Cal later this month
The 6’2, 279 lbs freshman from Fairfax High had 35 tackles, a fumble recovery and blocked field goal this year for the Corsairs.
Manley was named to the Region V All-California team by the California Community College Coaches Association and the JC Athletic Bureau earlier this week.
Santa Monica College finished 9-2 and won the Pacific Conference for the second straight year.

Girls Basketball: University’s Cameron commits to Emerson College
University High’s Emily Cameron has announced her commitment to play basketball at Division III Emerson College in Boston next year. Cameron, who was recruited over the summer by head coach Bill Gould, took an official visit to the school in September and enjoyed her surroundings.
“When I took the trip, I liked the school and Boston, and after that knew I wanted to go there,” Cameron said. “Decided to go because [of] their film program and also wanted to play basketball. I talked to the coach there a lot and it seemed like the right fit.”
Cameron will apply for their honor’s program in the hopes of paying half of her tuition as Emerson does not award athletic scholarships. She was also considering New York University and Haverford College in Pennsylvania.
The senior wing player is averaging eight points, four rebounds, and three steals for the Wildcats (12-3) this season.

Former SMC’s Stephens has a homecoming when San Diego St plays USC tonight
The 6’8, 225 lbs senior forward, in his second season at San Diego State, is averaging 7.3 rebounds and 6.8 points per game to help lead the Aztecs (3-1) to be ranked 25th in the AP poll. Stephens had his first double-double when he finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 79-43 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Wednesday.
During his two years at Santa Monica College, Stephens’ avergaed nearly ten points and eight rebounds a game. He played his high school career at Chatsworth High.
The game will be broadcast locally on Fox Sports West at 7 p.m.
